Welcome to Wildfolk – the writings of Mark and Sue Mawby.
We live in the Scottish Borders, and we’re a partnership – Small Strings – making and selling stringed musical instruments. But these pages are about the other things we do as individuals – mostly musical, artistic and folk-related, though we may include a post or two about work on our house and garden, and life in the Borders.
Mark’s a musician through and through! He’s an accomplished performer in his own right (see ‘Mark’s music’ page, which includes some short downloads) and teaches guitar, folk fiddle and mandolin (for details see ‘Musical instrument tuition’).
In her spare time, Sue’s a keen amateur photographer – the ‘point and shoot’ variety rather than anything technical – and has a few photo cards for sale in the wonderful Chirnside Gallery. She also loves Morris dancing – she used to dance with Wakefield Morris and with the Rhubarb Tarts and now dances with Rag Bag Morris (https://www.facebook.com/RagBagMorris), and Mark is one their musicians.
